Karizma R, The legendry bike from Hero Honda

The Hero Honda Karizma R is a lengendry bike manufactured by Hero Honda. It was one of the first 200 cc above bike in India.  Karizma was first launched in 2003. Later in 2007,It was upgraded to Karizma R. The look and performance was updated in the 2014 model , but the new model was not a success.

Sports Tourer Design

Karizma R was designed for a specfic segment called sports tourer. The design was in partenship with honda. It is a long bike with short seat height of 795mm. The design was inspired from Honda VFR800. The drawbacks of the first design were the width of its back tyres.  Because of the reason its a sports tourer, small tyres make it less safe for offroading and cornering. But the overall design makes it fun to ride this motor bike.

Karizma R got the tested detuned  223 cc SOHC air-cooled engine from the CRF230 series of enduro/MX/supermoto bikes that are sold in the US and South American markets. It has a five-speed gearbox. The engine is an all-aluminium, undersquare engine (bore 65.5 mm or 2.58 in and stroke 66.2 mm or 2.61 in) running a compression ratio of 9:1. It has got  CV carburettor with a CCVI switch. The top speed is around 130 km/h and the 0–60 km/h is achieved around 3.8 seconds. The Karizma is reported to have an overall fuel economy of 35-40 km/ltr.The fuel tank capacity is 15 litres with a reserve of 2 litrs.

Power and performance 

karizma R is a powerful 223 cc bike with a max power of 17 bhp@ 7000 rpm. Maximum tourque is 18 Nm @6000 rpm. Comparing to new gen sports bike, Karizma R may perform a little bad. Yet this is a good bike with some good old memories. The power and design makes it easy to ride this bike with full confidence.
